So, it seems that “cinemagraphs” are the new in-thing, and I don’t really have a problem with that. Moving photographs are pretty awesome any way you slice it, right?
Anyhow, I spent an hour or so this afternoon fooling around with this to see if I could make a somewhat “cinemagraphic” GIF. I don’t think it’s half bad for the short amount of time I spent. Either way, it was just for kicks.

I laughed so hard when I saw this in my neighborhood, because you can plainly see the (very) short story behind it. It’s obvious that there was some sort of graffiti painted on the wall, which had been mostly scrubbed away by city workers. The would-be artist then returned, only to find that his late-night labors were all for naught. So, rather than simply trying to duplicate what I can only surmise was some sort of burgundy-shaded masterpiece, he decided to leave a note of remorse in its stead.

Kristin and I have said our goodbyes to Seattle, and made our way down to California (from whence I came). We’re not yet in San Francisco, but we’ll get there. In the meantime, it’s actually quite nice here in the Valley. Full size image available here.

Simply amazing. Taken just a week ago in Florence by ContemplatingJazz, at deviantART.
Sorry about the recent downtime, if you happened by to notice. I tend to opt for developer builds on my systems, and unfortunately the latest dev build of nginx was a little too dev, and there were some issues that didn’t show up until I rebooted the server. Unfortunately, I didn’t bother to check any of my sites after said server reboot, so it was at least a couple of days before I realized that there wasn’t even an http server running. My bad!
…It won’t happen again.
